The Southeast Asian Diaspora Project, known simply as SEAD, was founded in 2011 with the goal of empowering Khmer, Hmong, Lao and Viet diaspora communities.
In the brand mark, a speech bubble frames the SEAD letters and is anchored by an open book motif. These symbols are representative of the organization’s language and storytelling programs. Together, the symbols form a budding flower, representing SEAD’s mission of growth and empowerment.
The Planting SEADS book is collaboration between The SEAD Project, ManForward, mk nguyen and Narate Keys. The anthology reflects shared histories that make up the complex Southeast Asian refugee diaspora experience. The cover features a flower bomb illustration as a symbol of healing and growth for communities that thrive and persist despite the trauma of war and displacement.
